(LOS ANGELES) – City Councilmember Mike Bonin today introduced a resolution calling on the city to formally support state legislation that would change the name of State Route 90 to the “Ballona Freeway.”

SR 90, a state highway that connects Marina Del Rey to the greater Los Angeles area, was once named the “Richard M. Nixon Freeway” is now known as the “Marina Freeway.” The short stretch of road is entirely elevated above the natural topographic landscape, which makes for a superb close-up view of many of the 600 acres of surviving coastal Ballona Wetlands, which are owned by the state and protected from development.
