Housing Ends Homelessness. We Need…

To take swift, meaningful action in addressing our homelessness crisis, we need creative & effective housing solutions that are far more agile, flexible and less expensive than ground-up construction.

Housing Now, a key initiative introduced by Councilmember Mike Bonin, Councilmember Curren Price, and Councilmember & Homelessness and Poverty Committee Chairman Mark Ridley-Thomas, would aggressively accelerate Los Angeles’ ability to provide housing to those living unhoused  by significantly boosting the supply of flexible housing subsidies available to the Citya key and necessary component of the way out of our current crisis.

It would do so by expanding funding for and partnership with a County program Councilmember Bonin has long supported, Housing for Health. The program has so far been a shining star of Permanent Supportive Housing delivery, having housed 14,000 people at a retention rate of 92% since 2012. This motion would identify how to supercharge both the program’s resources as well as the City’s ability to collaborate with it, in an effort to create over 10,000 new, ongoing, flexible housing subsidies.
